One of the greatest musicians I have ever heard is a Brazilian named Sivuca. He had a way of playing accordian and singing an octave above what he played creating a sound that was beautiful and instantly identifiable as his. He was a great piano player as well and as good a pandeiro player as ever I have heard, Circa 1974.
