Chris
Washburne didn't hear Latin music until
he was in his 20's. At 35, after having
survived cancer, obtained his Ph.D. in ethnomusicology
he is one of the most sought after trombone
players working in Salsa. He has been
performing with his own band called Syotos
at New York City's Nuyorican Poets Cafe
(East 3rd Street at Avenue A) every Thursday
for the last four years and performed on
Tito Puente's second live recording from
Birdland.

about his career's development and his views
on the Latin music business that he has
become so closely associated with. |
