Recently,
Louis Bauzo and the Harbor Conservatory Latin
Big Band performed a tribute to Tito Puente, at
Lincoln Center, with Special Guest Artists Carlos
"Patato" Valdez, Orestes Villato
and Jimmy Sabater. Louis
Bauzo, director of the Harbor Conservatory Latin
Big Band, is a well-known musician and folklorist.
He played with the Tito
Puente Orchestra for seven years during the
1970's, and has performed and recorded with such
renowned musicians as Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie
Palmieri, Mario Bauza, Mongo Santamaria and
Celia Cruz. The
purpose of this concert was to celebrate Tito
Puente's legacy by showcasing his music and his
unique blending of traditional, sacred African
music with popular Caribbean and American music.
Check

skills. |
