During
my trip to California this February, I visited
friends and LP
Artists in Los Angeles and San Francisco,
I had the opportunity to meet with long-time
LP endorser Richie
Gajate Garcia. While discussing future
collaborations with him, we talked about
the possibility of a California photo shoot
that would include a large number of LP’s
West Coast artists.

Toi Russell and his wife, Diane, took us to
Jerry Chacon’s house where Matthew was
given one of Jerry’s incredible gargoyle
masks. We also met Tony Bennett’s drummer,
Clayton Cameron, and his family, along with
percussion builder, Joe Agu, and his family.
While in Los Angeles we attended a taping of
the Wayne Brady show and the opening of the
Daredevil movie in Grauman’s Chinese Theater
on Hollywood Boulevard. It was also a thrill
for us to see Tito Puente’s star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In San Francisco we visited drum builder, Akbar
Mogaddam, and had dinner with some of our favorite
people, including Debbie and Karl
Perazzo, Jesus
Diaz, Greg Landau, Eric Rangél, and
Arturo Riera. We also enjoyed rekindling our
friendship with Massound Badakhshan, owner of
Height Ashbury Music, later in our trip.
