Master
percussionist and veteran LP® endorser,
Chembo
Corniel, and his quintet, Chembo Y Grupo
Chaworó recently performed at the Arka
Lounge. The band members include band leader
Chembo, who played LP
Galaxy® Fiberglass Congas; Yunior Terry
on bass, Ivan Renta on alto sax, Tino Derado
on keyboards, and Vince Cherico on drums. Guest
percussionists, Chris
Theberge and Matthew Baranello, provided
an additional dimension to the music by playing
LP®
Bata Drums on several songs. Legendary musician
Mario Rivera provided his signature baritone
saxophone. Chembo describes his band’s
music as a mixture of Latin Jazz and old-fashioned
Salsa that swings.
