was born in Senegal to parents from the
Cape Verde Islands. As part of her East
Coast tour, Maria, accompanied by LP®
artist
Cassio Duarte, performed at Satalla,
a club that bills itself as the Temple of
World Music, on October 2nd. Her distinctive
style is reminiscent of Cesaria Evora.
