My Birthday Party, 2005

On January 29, 2005 I was thrilled to be able to host my annual birthday celebration at my home, attended by nearly 200 people. We had a band led by Little Johnny Rivero, who was joined by 18 of the "Who's Who" in Salsa music. Performing that night were: Little Johnny Rivero, conga, bongo and shekere; Alex Alvear, bass and vocal; Panagiotis Andreo, bass; Andrea Brachfeld, flute; Jimmy Delgado, timbale; Joey De leon, bongo and conga; Tony Escapa, timbale and conga; Joe Fieldler, trombone; Gonzalo Grau, keyboard, vocal and shekere; Ralphie Irizarry, timbale and conga; Pedro "Pedrito" Martinez, conga, timbale, vocal and shekere; Pete Nater, trumpet; Steve Pouchie, vibes; Cita Rodriguez, vocal; Robert Rodriguez, keyboard; Saundra Silliman, vocal; Steve Thornton, conga and djembe; Emilio Valdes, conga and guiro; and Orlando Vega, bongo.

I am grateful to have had Manny Mieles doing the recording engineering and Willie Villegas assisted by Alfie Alvarez, videotaping the event. As soon as that footage is available, you will be able to see and hear the party! In the meantime, make sure the check out the music clips, from the various performances, below.

I was thrilled to have as a guest, my dear friend Steve Thornton, who came all the way from Malaysia. The event didn't end until well after 4 A.M. I am already looking forward to next year!

Apologies to those whose photos don't appear in the gallery. I lost 91 images due to a camera error.
