Pucho Brown has been a bandleader all his life. His chosen instrument is the timbales, no doubt influenced my his musical hero, Tito Puente. Pucho is from Harlem USA and he kept the Latin rhythms alive in Black Harlem while Spanish Harlem was alive and at its peak with similar music. Brown's music has always had that special funk that came out of the combination of musical cultures he was so much a part of. He first became interested in Latin music when he heard someone in high school banding out a mambo on the desk with a pencil. He became known as an acid jazz guy, partly because of a tune on an album of his called Psychedelic Pucho. As of this writing he has recorded 25 albums as leader.
