The
Montvale Rhumba, which is being hailed as
an instant classic, is Latin Percussion's first
studio recording in over twenty years. In support
of this long anticipated event, Nancy Rodriguez
host of the popular Latin music radio show "Ritmo
con Ache" on WBAI Radio New York City, dedicated
a segment of her show to promoting the new disk.
She graciously allowed the members of the band
to come into the studio and perform several
of the songs from the album for her listening
audience.
In the studio for this broadcast were percussionists
Pedro
"Pedrito" Martinez, Little
Johnny Rivero, Tony Escapa, Ricky Salas
and Tony Rosa, in addition to harpist Edmar
Castañeda, and his sister, vocalist
Johanna Castañeda. My son Matthew was
delighted when host Nancy Rodriguez allowed
him airtime to be able to give several of his
close friends and family a "shout out".
